19th World Petroleum Congress

Held every three years the World Petroleum Congress is known as the ‘Olympics’ of the oil and gas industry. The Congress programme covers all aspects of the industry including technological advances in upstream and downstream operations, the role of natural gas and renewables, management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact.

Opened by the King of Spain, the 19th World Petroleum Congress was held in Madrid under the theme, 'A World in Transition: Delivering Energy for Sustainable Growth'. Governments, oil companies, IOCs and NOCs, industry and stakeholders from around the globe once again came together to set out the way forward for the petroleum sector.

This edition exceeded expectations and attracted 4,300 delegates including 35 ministers and 500 CEOs. There were also 260 exhibiting companies covering an area of 15,300m² which attracted more than 14,500 visitors.
